Returning to Yarn-monious: Two Years Later

Returning to Yarn-monious: Two Years Later

If you’ve read Death by Drop Spindle, you know that Shanice Keller’s murder changed everything for KNote. Two years later, I’m returning to Yarn-monious to catch up with KNote, see how she’s been navigating life without her mother, and find out what happens as the trial approaches.

In my new short story/novella, KNote is still finding her footing as she keeps her mother’s beloved yarn shop thriving. She’s been rebuilding her life, holding on to the memories of the woman she loved, and trying to move forward. But with the trial on the horizon, the past isn’t staying quietly in the past.

Enter Serena Turner, a true-crime podcaster who wants to tell Shanice’s story. KNote isn’t exactly thrilled by the idea. After all, there’s a difference between telling the story of a woman’s life and reducing her to the worst thing that ever happened to her. And KNote has spent two years trying to protect her grief from people who see her family’s tragedy as a compelling story.

But what if there’s more to the story than KNote expects?

This new installment explores grief, memory, the complicated road to justice, and what it means to remember someone as a whole person—not simply as a headline. We’ll spend more time with KNote, revisit the warmth and community of Yarn-monious, and meet someone who may see Shanice’s story differently than KNote does.

I’ll be sharing more about this story in upcoming blog posts, including the characters, the inspiration behind the story, and the questions that shaped it.

For now, if you haven’t read Death by Drop Spindle, this is a good time to pick it up before returning to Yarn-monious. And if you’ve already read it, I hope you’re ready to see what life looks like for KNote two years later.

Because Shanice’s story didn’t end with her death—and KNote still has a lot to say.

Stay tuned. We’re just getting started.
